Light Rail Construction
From
Wednesday 1 May 2013, preliminary construction will begin on the GoldlinQ Gold Coast Light Rail project at Surfers Paradise
Boulevard from Cavill Avenue to Clifford Street.
The initial works will involve relocating services,
above and below ground, such as gas, water and electricity, and upgrading storm
water drainage.
Surfers Paradise Boulevard will become one-way
southbound, in line with the final traffic configuration for the corridor.
Hanlan Street will be left-out onto the Boulevard only and Beach Road will be right-in from the Boulevard only (please see the X on the map).
Alternate Routes
We recommend The Esplanade for all Southbound Traffic, and the Gold Coast Highway Northbound. If you're on foot heading South to Cavill Ave, avoid the construction by walking through Chevron Renaissance. Or if you're heading to the Beach from the North or South, head through The Forum, Lido or Centre Arcades, off Surfers Paradise Blvd and on to Orchid Ave.
